Back Home

Nothing like 4 days with the parents to remember why I like to be alone. My mother seems to have a particular knack for making the holidays miserable. She especially picks on my husband and my son. The level of obnoxiousness is such:

GMan: No thank you, I don’t like ham.

Mom: Fine! More for us! (sarcastic tone)

Brother in law, trying to make light: Oh, GMan, are you Jewish?

GMan, smiling: yeah, I guess so!

Mom, even more sarcastic this time: Fine! Go ahead! Then I don’t have to buy you any presents!

Jesus. Sure, maybe he should have just passed on the ham without mentioning he doesn’t like it, but I guarantee you, the outcome would have been the same.

We are home, though, safe and sound, and away from the nastiness. I do feel as though the last two weeks have cleared my mind from all things school, and I am relatively relaxed. More posting to come. Holly – I had a dream that you and I were hanging out.
Gina – I LOVE the Chanel No 5 on Facebook
Magpie- You are a total dear for remembering me with a card.  You too, HausFrau.

And JP- keep those comments and compliments coming!

has anyone noticed

that I’m STILL not posting?  HA, I guess I’m very lazy!  I am done with school for now and refuse to even think about it for at least another week.  Already my fellow students are starting to murmur “Are grades up?” but I don’t want to know.

I have been able to work full time the last few weeks, and somehow I feel this will make me rich.  (Another hearty chuckle.)

I should be cleaning and baking right now; parents are coming over tomorrow after I work the first half of the day and then we go to mass…BUT – the IG of these days doesn’t much care.  I figure I’ll find a spare minute tomorrow and if not – well, she won’t really say something bitchy to me on Christmas Eve, will she?

Happy, non stressful  holidays to all of my favorites out there:  Mrs X, Prof J, HausFrau, Gigi, Magpie, Holly, Mrs. G, etc etc.

Irish Who?

Hello, my pretties!  Right now I’m just a small face, looking out the window of the train of my life that is whizzing past so fast.  I can see you, but you’re a blur.  I don’t even have time to read blogs, much less write one.  But in less than one week, my life will (temporarily) be back.

Took one exam today, one tomorrow and one Friday.  Then four weeks of no school.  Four weeks of “only” work and kids and Christmas and traveling to visit family and friends.    Cleaning the house.  Folding the laundry the way I like.  Reading books.   mmmm…  Can’t wait.

I feel better prepared for exams this term than last.  I have studied a lot more.  But it’s never enough, and I’m exhausted after just one.  Tomorrow will be a real killer.   By Friday’s I will no longer care, I will just be so excited for the party afterwards.

Soon I’ll be back, I promise.
